Ottomans are a versatile player in the decorating world, shifting from footrest to seat to table with infinite ease. Topped with a generous-sized tray, ottomans make dandy coffee tables, and when company calls you simply remove the tray and you have extra seating. Plus, they’re light enough to move around so they’re never in the way—you can even tuck a couple of smaller ottomans under a console table when they’re not needed. Here are three stylish examples at three different prices.

Low

Supple leather and button tufting make this classic Mallory ottoman a good all-purpose piece and a good value, as well. The ottoman measures 50" x 25" x 17" and retails for $679 at Ethan Allen stores.

Medium

Deep padding and a button-tufted top make this Sullivan Square top-grain leather ottoman a comfortable choice for seating, as well as an ideal table when topped with a tray. Available in a rectangular or 42" x 42" x 18" square (shown) for $899 at Pottery Barn.

High

The height of sophistication, this generously sized Grammercy ottoman is blessed with a tufted top and buttery-soft leather upholstery. It measures 41" x 41" x 18", and retails for $1,199 at Crate and Barrel.
