By Abe Abbas, About.com

Fire pits can make patios, backyards and decks even more inviting. Whether you want to linger outdoors on a summer evening or gather round a fire in winter time, fire pits give you lots of flexibility.

A word of caution: before you purchase a fire pit, find out what your local regulations are regarding their use and always observe fire pit safety rules.
