Made in Germany from 18/10 stainless steel, Carsten Gollnick's design features a central cylinder surrounded by four fins that also double as feet. Put some newspaper and wood in the center, light a match, and let this alfresco fireplace banish the chill from your patio or poolside.

The Conmoto Outdoor Fire Pit measures 11.5 inches high and 27 inches in diameter, and retails for $720 (including shipping) at designstore.com. Although the fins do not get as hot as the central cylinder, this is probably not a good choice for a home with young children. But others will probably agree: A warm fire never looked so cool.
