Metals have long been used in making furniture and home accessories. But as Laura Kirar pointed out, they now have a different look.
Today you see different textures mixed together with shiny metals mixed with matte, or even different colored metals used together. You can see etched mercury glass with gold patterning, or chrome with nickel. Mixed metals can make an appearance anywhere from dining tables and consoles to chandeliers and candlesticks.
This mirror from Ethan Allen demonstrates the mixed metal look as it combines silver leaf with flecks of bronze for a subtle, decorative effect.
