Candles cast a glow that says it is a special occasion. Even if you don't use candles at the table for safety's sake, you can use them in safe places around the room or group some together in a fireplace for special effect.
Choose candles that have an extended burning time or select flameless LED lights that mimic the look of burning candles. Consider safety if you are going to use real candles and display them in an area where they won't be in danger of being knocked over.
