Lane is a well known source of medium quality, mid-priced furniture throughout the U.S. Lane started out making cedar chests 95 years ago. While it still makes cedar chests, Lane has expanded today to manufacturing furniture for the entire home. Reclining furniture, home entertainment, dining rooms, bedrooms or occasional furniture, Lane manufactures and sells them all.

Lane is owned by Furniture Brands International, who also own some of America's other best known brands such as Broyhill, Thomasville and Drexel Heritage.

Lane Furniture

Lane manufactures transitional furniture that lies between traditional and casual contemporary furniture. Individual pieces or collections can lean towards one style or the other, but over all it is a safe, neutral style for most interiors.

The company made its beginning by manufacturing cedar chests, early in the 1900s. For about 40 years that is all the company manufactured before starting to make occasional tables in 1951. From there it was on to casegoods, accent pieces, and finally upholstered furniture for which it so well known today.

Lane's large selection of upholstered furniture in leather and fabric is manufactured in Tupelo, Mississippi, right here in the U.S. while its wood furniture is imported from all over the world, but mostly assembled in the U.S. Lane's furniture is in the mid-priced range and its major competitors are manufacturers such as La-Z-Boy, Broyhill and Bassett.

Lane furniture is sold throughout the U.S. mostly through the brand's own mid-sized stores which carry Lane furniture exclusively. However, department stores and independent dealers also carry a wide selection of Lane furniture along with other comparable brands.

Dining Room, Bedroom furniture and other Casegoods

Lane's vast selection of casegoods ranges from cedar chests that they originally used to make, to occasional tables, wall units and complete dining room and bedroom sets. Additionally the company also manufactures and carries its well known home entertainment furniture.

Wood and wood veneer products are available in many different styles and finishes. To make it easier for customers to coordinate furniture pieces throughout the home, Lane has classified many pieces into separate collections.

At present there are three major bedroom collections, but the products keep changing from time to time to keep pace with consumer demand and changing fashions. Bedroom prices can range from around $1099 upwards.

Prices for a coffee table can start at $499, and go up to around $1200 or higher, depending on style, construction and material. Dining tables can go from $649 for a simple kitchen table such as the Blackstone Farmhouse Table, to over $2000 for the Trestle Table in the Eddie Bauer Collection.

The home entertainment furniture is available at prices that can range from $300 for simple media consoles to $2800 for more elaborate media wall systems.

To go with its casegood offerings in home entertainment furnishings, Lane has also made a name for itself with the variety of home theater seating it offers. Poor Quality, Member Quaichang

We bought a Lane leather sofa and loveseat recliner set a few years ago as Christmas present to ourselves. The salesman told us that every part that touches your body was leather. I diligently applied leather conditioner per the instruction of the salesman. Four years later the furniture looks absolutely horrible. The leather has cracked and started peeling off. We contacted Lane customer service and was told that our set was actually constructed of bonded leather. We sent them pictures and was told by the customer rep that the cracks and peeling are typical of what they've seen and is to be expected. If that is typical of their product then nobody should waste their money with this company. We have a real leather set bought from Rhodes furniture (back in the 90s) that has held up far better than this Lane set. If you are looking at leather recliners don't waste your money with Lane Furniture.
