Guide Review - Review of Jonathan Adler's "Customize Your Own" Feature
Jonathan Adler, a "design company dedicated to bringing style, craft, joy, and a general feeling of grooviness to your home" has a "Customize Your Own" feature on their website. You may recognize Jonathan Adler, the name behind the company, from his stint on Bravo's Top Design, or you may be a fan of his bold and vibrant designs for furniture and accessories.
Customization is one of the biggest trends today, but often you don't get to do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. The Jonathan Adler website lets you do that. If you are happy with your design and place an order, you can expect to get your product in a space of 12-14 weeks.
It is interesting to see how colors work together, and how completely you can change the look of something just by altering one feature. It is also hours of endless fun, and you may actually like something enough to then go and order it.
The customization feature is well organized, user friendly and easy enough to navigate on your own, but you have easy access to instructions should you need them. Additionally, the FAQs provide answers to any questions you may have regarding the products.
There are three products that you can choose to customize: pillows, rugs and tote bags. You have three additional choices in the product section because you can choose to monogram all three as well.
Let's say you want to customize a pillow. While you can jump in directly into all the options for creating one, you may also want to see what others have done in the site's Gallery of User Design. Once you are ready to begin, you may choose from 18 patterns and then have a blast selecting colors for shapes and backgrounds. Proceed to select a size and then finally choose a fabric. Once you save your design to your account, it can become available to others to view in the User Gallery. You can also e-mail a link to your creations to others or share your design through Facebook or Twitter.
The instructions are easy enough to follow and you can create a design in no time at all. But for those of us who are good at second guessing our efforts, there is no going back and no do overs. Once you place an order, you have to live with it. For that reason you may find the Facebook and Twitter options good to use before you actually place your order.
