The last day of the year warrants a little reflection. So let's take a look back at what happened this year in furniture news.

The year kicked off with color forecasts and predictions for 2012. Tangerine Tango ruled.
The Year of the Dragon began, and suddenly dragons were everywhere. You even saw happy, chic ones at Jonathan Adler.

Madonna took a sign on a furniture moving truck to mean that she should continue her movie project.
The Las Vegas Winter Market was permeated with a note of optimism. Mattresses reigned supreme. Furniture Today called it the Best Vegas show in years.
At the Spring High Point Spring Market there were light finishes to be seen, along with a lot of blue.

In outdoor furniture, the International Casual Furniture & Accessories Market featured new products and indoor/outdoor rugs continued their popularity.
This is also the year that saw Clint Eastwood haranguing a chair, which gave chairs everywhere a pause. Mercifully, the Presidential Elections followed a couple of months later.
In other Hollywood/Furniture news Brad Pitt came out with his own furniture line which he designed himself. We did not see a lot of two thumbs up reviews.
Hurricane Sandy brought devastation in its wake, and a lot of furniture businesses suffered along with others.
The holiday season shopping season started off well, and Black Friday continued into Cyber Monday, which stayed around till After Christmas and Year End sales began, but the Fiscal Cliff proved to be somewhat of a drag, pulling consumer ebullience down.

And finally, with Emerald, the Pantone prediction for 2013, we come full circle, back to color.
