Earlier this year, designers were encouraged to enter the competition to be part of the 12 x 12 exhibit. The jury consisted of prominent design editors, journalists and other design industry leaders.

The results are in and 12 NYC designers have been selected from among 80 competitors. They will have access to salvaged wood from 12 demolished NYC buildings to produce 12 pieces of furniture.
Each designer brings a unique approach to furniture design, and their work on this project will be exhibited during NY Design Week in May 2012.
The 12 x 12 Exhibit Designers are:
Bellboy, Carlos Little, Daskam & Dworkis, Design Brigade, Fiyel Levent, Fort Makers, Karl Zahn, Louis Lim, Nikolai Moderbacher, OBRA Architects, Tri-Lox, and Uhuru Design.
The wood comes from a number of different eras, boroughs, and species. It would be interesting to see the final products.
The proceeds from the sale of these pieces will go towards wood shop job training in under-served communities.
