Demystifying Green - Buy Used Furniture
Buying used furniture is one of the easiest ways of going green. What is especially great about buying used furniture is that is generally more affordable also.
When you buy used furniture, you save it from landfills. The fact that you're buying used furniture practically assures that it won't be off-gassing, so keep it that way by using Low-VOC cleaners, paints, glues and varnishes.
Another great thing about going green this way is that while you might have qualms about playing around with a brand new piece of furniture, you can freely re-purpose used furniture to create your own personalized decor.

Demystifying Green - Make Tiny Changes

Absolutely right Abe. All too often I read blogs talking about buying newly produced “green” furniture, but they always seem to forget about vintage furniture. My site, VandM.com, features vintage furniture, antiques, modern furniture, and a whole slew of other used, designer pieces from furniture dealers around the world. Consumers also often forget that designer pieces will hold their value while pieces from major retailer will not. If locally sourced is an important part, buyers can search by region, so they can find that perfect couch wherever they are located. I hope others heed your advance and go “used”.
Completely agree. Buying second hand furniture is the way to go, cheaper and its usually better made than the new cheap stuff. Recently came across Karolo.com, dedicated second hand furniture site, seems pretty new but awesome idea
