Sofa Frame

You often hear about terms like kiln dried hardwood often referred to when talking about sofa frames. Why should you know these wood construction terms, or even care? Well, for one thing it might enable you to make better buying decisions.

Kiln dried hardwood frames ensure a longer life for your sofas because hardwood is much stronger than softwoods, and can stand up to years of use. Kiln drying is great because it gets rid of most of the moisture in the wood. The presence of moisture can easily lead to warping. Knotty softwood is especially bad for sofa frames because the wood is weak around the knot, which can cause it to break.

I’ve always heard about kiln dried wood but never knew exactly what it meant. Thank you for the clarification.
